Baseball Assessment Considerations:
· Players who were on a QALL major level baseball team in 2019, are still age eligible to participate, and are registered for the 2020 season are automatically rostered on a 2020 major level baseball team – if your child/children makes a major team this year, they will be rostered on to a major baseball team for the rest of their Little League eligibility.
· Hardwick and Petersham major baseball players are typically rostered on to the same team – there are currently 5-6 open spots for the Hardwick/Petersham major baseball team.
· Oakham/New Braintree (ONB) and Barre major baseball players are typically rostered on to the same team*:
o There are currently 5-6 open spots for the ONB/Barre major baseball teams.
o There were two major level ONB/Barre baseball teams in 2019 – we believe there will still be two in 2019. After assessment is complete, if we determine a substantial number more than 9 players are deemed ‘major ready’ then we will consider maintaining a third ONB/Barre major baseball team for 2020.
§ If ONB/Barre remains at two major baseball teams, each 2019 returning player will remain on the same rosters as 2019 – new major players will be drafted by the coaches to fill in the empty roster spots on each team.
§ If ONB/Barre grows from two teams to three, all the ONB/Barre players (both returning and new) will be ‘re-drafted’ on to new teams.
o * = Players from Hubbardston who choose to play in Little League are typically placed on ONB/Barre rosters.
· 12 Year Old Rules:
o Players who are league age 12 (for Little League year 2020, born between September 1, 2007 and August 31, 2008) who attend as assessment and were not on a QALL major level baseball in 2019 are rostered on to a major team.
o Upon assessment, if the evaluators feel the 12 year old poses a safety risk to themselves and others, the parents/guardians will be approached about playing at the minor level.
o If the parents agree to let the 12 year play at the minor level, the parent must sign a waiver – this waiver contains language that excludes the 12 year old from pitching at the minor level and the player becomes ineligible for the Little League 12 year old tournament (though the 12 year old may be eligible to play in another summer baseball tournament).
· We do ask that you let us know if your child/children plans to attend, and if possible which date(s), so that we may plan accordingly. In the event we have to postpone because of weather, we will reschedule as soon as possible.
